Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 141 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

A couple of guys from Monthly Wizard magazine approach Brandish about a photo shoot. Since she needs money, she agrees. During the shoot, they want her to wear something more risque beyond her normal bikini. However, before she can get angry, she turns into Lucy, thanks to Sai’s transmutation. Rather than freak out, Lucy-Brandish decides to take advantage of the situation.

Elsewhere, Natsu-Gray attempts to use Natsu’s powers against Gennai and Kotetsu. Brandish-Lucy struggles to figure out what to do with Brandish’s power. She recalls how Brandish activates her powers and manages to turn herself into a massive giant. Natsu-Gray takes advantage of their opponent’s distraction to use a form of Natsu’s power. He then reminds Brandish-Lucy that as a giant, she can just fight. As such, Brandish-Lucy punches out Sai, Gennai, and Kotetsu.

Meanwhile, Gray-Natsu tries to adapt to using Gray’s powers. After creating an ice attack, Natsu finds himself returned to normal, thanks to Sai’s defeat. Lucy discovers herself in a bikini-maid outfit with cat ears.

Thoughts/Review:

Considering how quickly we get through two fights in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 141, combined with the comedy of the last two chapters, it is hard to know if we are supposed to take this story seriously or not. Sure, we should take it seriously. Additionally, there’s nothing wrong with humor in a story. But I felt that Mashima-sensei kinda didn’t want to be bothered.

Despite this, things had to be done, so time for a bit of comedy struggle. Also, there was the ecchi comedy stuff where Brandish didn’t do what I expected. She just took the fact that she was in Lucy’s body as a matter of fact. Then she decided to do the racier photo shoot. That way, we get a gag at the end for Lucy to freak out for laughs. (And watch her again forget that she has a way to change clothing on the fly.)

Beyond that, the chapter was just meh.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 141 made check marks for some battles, comedy, and ecchi fan service.
